Scottsburg, IN (June 15, 2018) – Scott Memorial Hospital proudly announces its approval of accreditation status by Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC) for its sleep lab services.

Achieving accreditation is a process where healthcare organizations demonstrate compliance with national standards. Accreditation by ACHC reflects an organization’s dedication and commitment to meeting standards that facilitate a higher level of performance and patient care.

ACHC is a not-for-profit organization that has stood as a symbol of quality and excellence since 1986. ACHC is ISO 9001:2008 certified and has CMS Deeming Authority for Home Health, Hospice and DMEPOS.

“At Scott Memorial Hospital, serving the community is one of our highest priorities,” said Michael Everett, chief executive officer of Scott Memorial Hospital. “We are privileged that our neighbors choose to come to us for compassionate, quality care that’s close to home. This accreditation of our Sleep Lab continues to strengthen our mission of making communities healthier.”

The two-bed lab at Scott Memorial is a specialized center that conducts sleep studies in order to diagnose common sleep disorders, including sleep apnea, narcolepsy, sleep behaviors called parasomnias, seizures, and other disorders. “The inability to get a good night's sleep is often overlooked or attributed to stress, anxiety or other health conditions,” said Jane Field, director of the Sleep Lab at Scott Memorial Hospital. “But restful sleep is an essential part of good health, and sleep problems can have a serious impact on your quality of life.”
